Fearne Cotton has confirmed she’s set to star in the revamped version of BBC kids show, The Teletubbies.
The Radio One DJ – who hosts her final show on the station on 22 May – is on the show as The Voice Trumpets. If the ‘Voice Trumpet’s means nothing to you, they’re the big metal poles which pop out of the ground in Teletubbyland and talk to Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po.
Just like the old episodes it’s expected that Fearne will be singing songs, making various animal noises and will make the famous Tubby-Bye-Bye announcement at the end of the show.
Fearne seems pretty excited about her new venture. “Teletubbies holds a special place in my heart so I'm honoured to be part of this well-loved TV show,” she told the Sun.
“As a mum, I am sure the new series will enthrall a new generation and I will certainly be watching with my kids.”
When Teletubbies first aired back in 1997 it bought in huge audiences, was shown in over 120 countries and reached more than one billion kids by the time it finished in 2001. Even now, old episodes get nearly 50 million views per month.
Seriously, WHO is watching the Teletubbies this much?
A launch date for the new show hasn’t been released. Fearne joins Harry Potter actor Jim Broadbent and Ab-Fab’s Jane Horrocks on the show.
