So it’s Happy Birthday to Friends, the show no one can stop watching even though it’s frankly embarrassing that we haven’t found anything better to do by now.
Today’s the sitcom’s 20th anniversary. Hurrah! And happily it’s not just the show that gets presents to celebrate. Us lucky fans get a brand new video of the show to immediately procrastinate over.
OK, it’s not quite a new episode - more a compilation of the show’s best bits– but desperate as we are for any top-up doses of the affable bunch, we don’t care that the video’s essentially a condensed version of what we all watch anyway, late night on Youtube when the evening’s not as fun as it should’ve been.
The “episode” is called The One With 236 Seconds, which, in true Friends style, is exactly what it says on the tin: almost 4 minutes of the show’s funniest bits.
Look out for a lengthy rehash of Ross and Rachel’s various shared dysfunctions, Janice’s unbearable speaking voice, Chandler getting spanked by his boss, Monica’s orgasm incident and, of course, several examples of Joey’s endearing bewilderment.
The news appears to provide further proof of the long-held heat dream that Friends is immortal, and even in the chaos of an apocalypse, episodes would somewhere be playing on loop, comforting the terrified survivors like some sort of cosmic babysitter. We'll never get sick of it, right?
