If there was ever a place other than Newcastle where we thought the Geordie Shore lot would feel at home, it’s Blackpool.
But alas – the Geordies have been banned from filming in the seaside resort. Apparently the Geordies’ wild partying is considered “less than savoury” and “off message”.
Geordie Shore was planning to shoot a night out in Blackpool for the show's ninth series. Councillor Graham Cain, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Leisure, told the Blackpool Gazette: "On a daily basis we receive requests from production companies wishing to film in Blackpool.
"As a town that relies on tourism we have to be careful about allowing any programmes to film in the resort which may have a detrimental effect on the town's economy.
"We prefer to work with companies that appeal to our target market of families and do so on a regular basis.
"All requests are carefully considered but on this occasion we chose to refuse Lime Pictures' application for permission."
Geordie Shore returns to our screens 22 July on MTV.
