Greggs is offering a romantic Valentine’s Day meal and tbh we’re keen

We’re fast approaching that dreadful time of year when the world goes totally mad. Heart-shaped chocolates fill the shopping aisles and window displays are adorned in red and pink roses, love hearts and an assortment of over-the-top balloons and stuffed cuddly toys. It’s also practically impossible to get dinner reservations, and if you do you’re tricked into extortionate set menus and find yourself surrounded by goey-eyed, love-struck couples. Bleugh.

(Not that we’re bitter or anything)

Yep, it’s almost Valentines’ Day and we’re reminded how single and alone we are approx 27 times a day.

But while some suckers have booked tables at fancy schmancy restaurants, or are breaking the bank on luxury weekends away, Greggs has the perfect solution for those who want a more low-key affair. Or, those who are just overly comfortable in their relationship.

Instead of a romantic meal for two at Clos Maggoire, you could opt to treat your other half to a candlelit dinner for two at your local Greggs.

‘Cause nothing screams romance like locking eyes with your loved one over a jumbo sausage roll, right?

But before you turn your nose up at the prospect of a chicken bake and a jam doughnut, Greggs are pulling out all the stops for the big V day. They’re even throwing in a complimentary bottle of Prosecco.

“We’re transforming selected shops into restaurants designed for romance, complete with mood lighting and music, roses, candles and linen tablecloths,” Greggs revealed on OpenTable.

The four-course set menu and bottle of bubbly will set you back a mere £15 for two – which sounds right up our street, tbh.

Here's what diners will be tucking into as part of the Greggs Valentine's set menu:

**Starter: **A composition of canapés – seasoned pork and puff pastry slider, steak & blue cheese en croute, katsu tortilla wrap béchamel toasted honey cured ham square and tomato gazpacho.

Main course: Your choice of signature Greggs puff pastry parcel, freshly baked to order and accompanied by oven roasted spiced potato slices, garnished with fresh apollo and spinach leaves.

**Dessert: **A brochette of miniature doughnuts, deep fried and rolled in sugar, paired with a rich butterscotch flavoured dipping sauce.

**Petits Fours and Coffee (v fancy): **Belgian dark chocolate brownie, raspberry and almond bite and caramel shortbread Accompanied by freshly ground Fairtrade coffee made using our own unique blend of mild Arabica beans from Peru and Colombia and rich tasting Robusta beans from Tanzania.

Plus a bottle of Italy's finest bubbles and still or sparkling water.
