Here at heat HQ we’re serious halloumi fans, (come to think of it, who isn’t?!) so we were pretty bloody excited to hear that a restaurant dedicated ENTIRELY to the squeaky cheese is opening in London.
That’s right. Halloumi for starter, main course and dessert.
The restaurant will be opening in East London’s 100 Hoxton, and was organised by The Cyprus Tourism Organisation, in a bid to encourage more people to visit the island.
The menu includes a whole host of cheesy delicacies including halloumi and cauliflower fitters with lime pickle yoghurt, halloumi fingers with tomato chill jam, a fresh grilled courgette and halloumi salad and a chargrilled halloumi flatbread with butternut and dukkah spices. Yum.
If you still haven’t satisfied your halloumi craving after that then you can also try some halloumi ice cream - something we’re sliiightly less sold on, but hey, we’ll try anything once.
And then cleanse the palette with some Cypriot inspired cocktails including a harissa Bloody Mary or a Cilantro and Ginger Martini.
You can order each item individually, or if, like us, you want to scoff the whole menu then you can order a sharing platter for £26. Although – let’s be clear - we have absolutely no intention of sharing.
If you want to get in on the halloumi action then you’ll have to be quick, as sadly the restaurant is only open for one week, from Monday the 13th of November.
You can book from Monday to Friday 5-10pm for dinner or Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm for brunch – because is it ever too early for cheese?
Good luck getting a table, though, as we're currently booking up every seat as we speak.
