I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! hasn’t even started yet, but we’ve already picked out our favourite stars – and footballer Kieron Dyer’s gone straight to the top of our list.
Why? Oh, just because he’s already promised to donate his entire fee from the series to a charity dedicated to helping families cope with stillbirth and neonatal death.
‘Scuse us while we get this weird speck of dust out of our eyes.
Speaking ahead of his jungle stint, Kieron said: “I am very competitive. But I am not going on the show for money. My fee is going to a charity. I am doing this show for the charity and my children.”
The charity, of which Kieron has been an ambassador since 2009, is Ipswich-based The Jude Brady Foundation, which was set up by Lynn and Peter Brady after the stillbirth of their son.
It’s close to Kieron's heart because he lost his own baby brother to neonatal death when he was around the age of 10.
heat spoke to Peter about Kieron’s generous offer and he said the former England player “has a heart of gold” and is a “top-notch guy” to be doing this.
“The gesture alone is significant and the amount [of money Kieron donates] is almost immaterial compared to the exposure he’s giving us,” Peter said.
“Kieron’s generosity is beyond bounds – he’s certainly got the attention of everyone in Suffolk!”
Speaking about what his friend will be like in the jungle, Peter said that Kieron “doesn’t suffer fools gladly”, is very mischievous and “isn’t shy about getting his hands dirty”.
“Not many will get to know the real Kieron as he’s had his fingers burned in the past,” Peter added, “but he really has a heart of gold.”
I’m A Celebrity kicks off this Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
