Posters of Jennifer Lawrence promoting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 have reportedly been torn down and banned abroad.

Reports from ynet and haaretz.com suggest that the image of J-Law spoting Katniss' trademark bow and arrow haven't been put up, instead opting the film's firey mockingjay logo, instead.

The studio behind the movie has confirmed that this is down to 'ultra-orthodox sensibilities' in Jerusalem and Bnei Brak, which are thought to object to posters displaying women. Bnei Brak outright prevents posters of women being displayed, meanwhile Jerusalem doesn't prohibit it, but they do find female posters are often vandalised.

A representative for the films said: “We discovered that public posters with the image of a female are often torn down in Jerusalem, while Bnei Brak does not allow posters with female images.”

Liron Suissa, Vice President of marketing for Nur Star Media who make the posters said: “Unfortunately we are subject to unofficial coercion that forces us to be more careful.

"We have had endless vandalisation, and clients prefer not to take the chance. We allow everything, but we recommend hanging another visual when necessary. The decision is the client’s.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is released in the UK on 20 November 2015.
