Justin Bieber just told everyone to buy someone else's Christmas single instead of his own. As marketing tactics go is this A) idiotic B) incredibly cunning or C) an act of true Christmas loveliness?
Odds are it’s probably C), JB has turned over a new penis-flashing, bass-dropping leaf in 2015, and has encouraged his legions of Beliebers - which now probably includes your mate Dave and your dad - to buy NHS Choir’s Christmas song, A Bridge Over You, and make it number 1.
Justin tweeted: “I'm hearing this UK Christmas race is close...but the @Choir_NHS single is for charity. So…
“so for 1 week it's ok not to be #1. Let's do the right thing & help them win. It's Christmas. @Choir_NHS good luck http://www.nhsno1.com/download
“This is what it's all about. Merry Christmas :)”
The money raised by the NHS Choir will go to Carers UK and Mind. Choir member and children’s doctor Katie Rogerson explained what it’s like battling Bieber’s Love Yourself, which was reportedly only leading by 662 copies.
“It’s just ridiculous that it’s the NHS versus Justin Bieber, but that’s all in the jolliness of it.
“You don’t expect an NHS choir to make the top 40 so to be honest, we’re [already] massively pleased. If we got to No 1, it would be insanity – but a really good version of it.”
The votes will be counted until midnight on Christmas Eve with the results being announced at 1pm on Christmas Day.
