Keeping Up With The Kardashians (E!, Sunday, 9pm)
Can you believe it’s 10 years since this Mother Of All Reality Shows started? It’s easy to forget but back then, Kim Kardashian was mostly known for a sex tape, being friends with Paris Hilton, and having a dad who defended OJ Simpson at his trial. Now she and her clan (and her husband) are among the most famous people in the world. No one, not even Katie Price, has been as good at monetising their private lives. And you just have to watch one episode of KUWTK to realise why. They are simply a deeply compelling, mostly likeable bunch who have stayed somehow relatable despite vast wealth and fame. In this season opener we get Kim trying for a new baby by having sex with Kanye in the bathroom, Khloe wanting to get a tape worm (not as a pet), and the aftermath of Kris and Bruce’s split, which is surprisingly moving. Plus watch out for Brody dissing Kanye.
How To Get Away With Murder (Universal, Sunday, 9pm)
The most fun US drama since Scandal (and from the same producers/creators), this dazzlingly fast-paced thriller has more plots in any single episode than most series manage throughout an entire run. Now it’s back from its mid-season break for the final batch of episodes of this first season and if you haven’t seen it before, all you need to know is that it’s a legal drama combined with (as the title suggests) a murder plot. The great Viola Davis (The Help) plays a brilliant law professor whose gaggle of genius young students have somehow (SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE MOST RECENT EPISODE) ended up killing her husband. With her tacit approval. So now what happens? It gets even more madly thrilling and entertaining.
The Voice UK (BBC1, Saturday, 7.15pm & 9.25)
It’s the bit of The Voice we haven’t all been waiting for! Yes the show goes live from this weekend, as each coach gets their teams of three finalists to sing live for the viewer votes. At the end of tonight’s Results show one singer from each team will be voted off, leaving eight for next week’s semi-final. It’ll be fascinating to see how many people stick with the show for this live phase. Last year the live shows went down to 7 million from the heights of 10 million for the spinny-chair early rounds. But as ever I keep an open mind!
** And don’t forget…** After last week’s Madonna Fest there’s another exclusive on The Jonathan Ross Show (ITV, Saturday, 9.25pm) this week with Elizabeth Hurley’s first ever solo UK TV interview. Yes, really. She’s plugging the crazy new E! drama The Royals which starts this Wednesday.
