A six-year-old girl called Izzy Vardy has written an apology to the police after she accidentally called 999 on New Year's Eve, whilst playing on her mum's locked phone. Izzy, who is from Annesley in Nottinghamshire, took it upon herself to write the heartfelt note after the Control Room called back her mother, and revealed they were 'very cross' with the youngster.
After Izzy's mum had words and reminded her just what 999 should be used for, Izzy decided to write a letter to Nottinghamshire Police, and she even sent them a box of biscuits to apologise for her mistake!
Nottinghamshire Police posted a picture of Izzy's letter on Twitter, which read, 'I'm so so sorry to you all and my mummy and daddy. We have chatted about 999 and I understand that you only ring 999 in an emergency.' [sic]
After receiving the letter, Nottinghamshire Police wrote, 'Thanks to six-year-old Izzy and her family for this lovely letter and box of biscuits after she accidentally called 999 on New Year's Eve! #TheApology'. [sic]
Izzy's mum Bronya Vardy later took to her Facebook page to write, 'Thank you Nottinghamshire Police for being so wonderful with Izzy. So glad we hand delivered the letter. She was totally in awe of what you all do.' [sic]
