Last night’s Love Island saw Lauren Richardson break down in tears after not being picked for a date.
The first show of the new series had each of the contestants pair up with a member of the opposite sex, and each couple then had to do everything together – including sharing a bed.
However, Lauren – who first hit headlines earlier this year when a picture of her looking cosy with ex-One Direction singer Zayn Malik went viral – didn’t get picked from the initial line-up, and announced: “This is a bit awkward isn’t it?”
She then told Joshua Ritchie: “No one stepped forward for me, so it made me feel a bit awkward and a bit embarrassed. Because I like tattoos I’ll go with you.”
Awkwardly, she later went on to say she was struggling to fit in with the group and said she felt like “the ugly duckling”.
That wasn’t helped by glamour model Jessica Hayes, who was first paired with Jordan Ring but decided to take Josh off Lauren’s hands after she won a task.
Jordan clearly wasn’t happy to be left with Lauren, while Josh was full of glee at being paired with Jess, so poor old Lauren went off for another cry.
It wasn’t helped by the rest of the group gossiping about Lauren’s tryst with Zayn, which she was forced to come clean about.
“I didn’t sleep with him. I had a picture with Zayn from One Direction. When we come out of the nightclub, there was just a picture of us holding hands when we came out of the nightclub,” she explained.
“My Instagram is the worst, people hate me.”
Poor Lauren. Maybe the arrival of ‘hot’ twins John and Tony Alberti from Manchester will give her a boost?
