As much as we are summer lovin' here at heat, we won't lie, we have moments where the summer vibes are just too much. While summer is supposed to mean good vibes all round and a live, laugh, love attitude (or some other cheesy AF saying plastered on the fixtures and fittings of the Love Island villa), it can come with a lot of f**king baggage; baggage that secretly weighs many of us down.

If you've never been triggered by one of the following, then feel free to leave this article, it's not for you, but if you have, stay with us, because OOFT we have a summer serotonin boost for you.

  • 'Perfect' Instagram pics

  • 'Perfect' couple content

  • Hot girl summer pressure

  • Friends getting married and having kids (and asking you why you're not)

  • F**KING Love Island.

If you've ever been even remotely bothered by any of those summer tropes we're so glad you're reading this.

Look, don't get us wrong, we love all of these things (especially Love Island – and not just 'cause we're paid to), but they can bring even the best of us down from time to time and for whatever reason we don't talk about that much. The reality is many of us are out there, right now, are asking ourselves questions like, why don't I look like that? Why am I still single? Why do I keep meeting the wrong people? Why not me? Why me?

Not everyone is having the perfect summer – in fact, breaking news, nobody is. We learned that recently thanks to a new comedy musical in London that has basically been written for anyone who has ever asked themselves one of those questions, and honestly, if you need a summer boost that will leave you feeling a little more love for your self, then go and see Lovestuck at Stratford East in London right now, because this one's for you.

And before anyone starts, not an ad, just 'right up our street,' said in Cheryl voice.

Lovestuck is the brainchild of the creative team behind one of the world's most popular comedy podcasts, My Dad Wrote a Porno, and you can absolutely tell in the razor-sharp and crude (in the best possible way) writing throughout. But what's it about?

We've all been there, right? That first date that goes spectacularly wrong. Lovestuck takes that feeling and turns it into pure theatrical gold. Imagine Lucy and Peter, thirty-somethings who find themselves in the most hilariously awkward AF situation – Lucy stuck upside-down in Peter’s bathroom window holding her own s**t. Based on a WILD true story that might ring a few bells from your Twitter days, btw.

Lucy, especially, is a serious underdog who faces adversity after adversity in this heart-warming new musical, something leading lady Jessica Boshier who plays Lucy knows all too well thanks to her own heartfelt story playing out off-stage this week.

heatworld caught up with Jessica at the press night for the new show to get the details on her very own Lucy moment (nothing to do with poo, btw) that led to her having to tragically pull out of the show due to a foot injury just days into the run of what Jessica saw as 'her go' (the part of Lucy is currently being covered by Ambra Caserotti).

Jess exclusively told heatworld, 'The incident was an unlucky but savage theatre accident that nobody could've predicted.

'I do want to be honest that this is just as much a mental battle as a physical one, I fell apart when I first had the news of the injury. Why was this happening? I had waited so long and this was finally meant to be my go…'

As it turns out, Jessica has been with the project since day one, and while the character of Lucy is based on someone real, this version is very much inspired by Jessica.

She added, 'I’ve been working on Lovestuck and helping mold Lucy for the last five years.

'Lucy is me, my heart and soul are in her completely (I know that sounds cheesy but it’s true) I love her.

'This show and this role are very important to me, not just because I’ve been attached to it for so long, but she’s literally my perfect role. It’s hard to find parts like this in musicals for a woman in their 30s and James Cooper and Bryn Christopher have completely celebrated strong, fantastic roles for women to play in this show with the most addictive songs.'

Displaying true Lucy resilience, Jess finished by saying, 'I will return and I hope people will be there watching and cheering this journey back to the stage. It’s Tiny Tim meets Judy Garland.'

We meant to ask Jessica weather Lucy is a heat reader during our interview with her, but actually, no need...
