Every time Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas plays on heat Radio (thanks to super fan heat DJ James Barr) we know that the festivities can begin. Mariah means Christmas and for yonks, in fact for as long as we can remember, the singer has held the title for the most played Christmas song.
But today it was revealed that Mariah’s been booted off the top spot by The Shins’ 2012 cover of Wonderful Christmastime (originally by Paul McCartney). Although it’s a great song, it’s definitely no Mariah.
*AIWFC *has dropped to number two, with Christina Aguilera’s Christmas Time coming in third place. Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses is at number four, while Jack Johnson’s Someday At Christmas made number five in the list, compiled by PlayNetwork.
We demand Mariah goes back to the top spot.
Yes, it can get a tiny bit wearing after the 59th play but as soon as heat hears those first few bars, we’re up and dancing. Every single time.
