MOBOs 2014: Sam Smith wins FOUR awards including Best Male, Best R&B Soul and Best Album

Last night saw the 2014 Mobo winners snatch up their statues to celebrate music of black origin. The big winners of the night included Sam Smith who won Best R&B/Soul, Best Album for his debut.

The Best Album award was voted for just by Twitter users. How very modern, eh? Maybe one day we’ll all be able to telepathically register our votes without even using our thumbs. That’s the dream after all, isn’t it? No. No, it’s probably not.

Sam said this when picking up the Best Album gong: “What is going on? That’s amazing. Thank you everyone on Twitter. “I just want to thank every single person who wrote my record with me. It’s really a dream come true.”

Elsewhere at the event - which was hosted by X Factor Mel B and Sarah Jane Crawford - J-J-J-Jessie J picked up the Best Female award and ACTUAL Beyonce won the Best International Artist award, even though ACTUAL Beyonce didn’t attend.
