Hey, remember when Girls Aloud split up, forever and for always, about a year ago? Well sit down for this: they are still together, even if Nadine Coyle is the only remaining member.
That’s according to only-remaining-member-of-Girls-Aloud person Nadine Coyle, anyway, who today gave an in-depth interview to the Mirror about just what contributed to the Girls Aloud split last year. And despite what Kimberley Walsh’s autobiography says, Nadine was not to blame.
“I didn't want the band to end, it was as simple as that,” she told the paper. “I didn't think we were going to end – we had done all the promo saying we were all together, having a great tour, wearing Victoria's Secret wings and stomping up and down the catwalk every night, loving every single minute of it.
“And then, on the very last night of the tour, our management and publicist came up to me and said the girls wanted to split up the band. I was thinking, 'What?!'”
According to Kimbo, Nadine refused point blank to accept the split when the other four girls wanted out — and declined to sign the press release confirming the news. But Nadine reckons she didn’t want to sign anything that brings the group to an end — so, uh, technically, they still exist?
“I didn't feel like it was heartfelt or the right thing to do, and I didn't want to have anything to do with it,” she explained, Irishly. “I didn't want to put my name to anything to do with it so I said, 'If you want to write this thing from these four, then write it from these four - but I am taking no part in it.'
“I never signed it so technically I'm still in Girls Aloud; I'm a one man band! I need holograms made up of them so I can go back out on stage in 30 years time...!” Just FYI, Nadine: we would pay up to and including 100,000 of whatever mad space credits we are using in the year 2044 to see this happen. So just know this.
