It’s Haggis in a hovel / it’s Buckfast in a bottle / Irn Bru in a sporran / it’s oh, oh: that’s right, Nicki Minaj is coming to Scotland, where she will host and perform at the MTV European Music Awards (EMA) in Glasgow!

Swimming in the Tay / saying ‘och aye’ / Mars bar deep fry / Midge, Ure: as MTV confirmed today, the star will head up the 9 November event, and perform as well, undoubtedly doing something appalling while rapping along to Anaconda.

Can’t really do anymore borderline racist Scotland references to the tune of Nicki’s bit from Bang Bang so we’ll stop now, but anyway: Katy Perry leads the nominations list, up for the best female, best pop act, best video and best live act among others.

Iggy Azalea is nominated in four categories, despite being born in a weird sex-and-rap laboratory just eight months ago. Ariana Grande is up for six awards (including ‘Best Right Side of Face’), while 5 Seconds of Summer and Pharrell ‘I’M NOT HAPPY! STOP SAYING I’M HAPPY! I HATE THAT SONG, ME!’ Williams is up for five.

Anyway Nicki took to Instagram to announce the awards show, which will screen just a couple of weeks after her third studio album, The PinkPrint, hits the shelves.

“So excited to announce that I will not only perform, but I have the honorable task of HOSTING this year's MTV European Music Awards!!!!!!!” she said. “AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! The show will shoot in GLASGOW, SCOTLAND for its 20th Anniversary ON NOVEMBER 9th!!!!”
