It’s FINALLY been conformed that Sam Smith has recorded the theme tune for upcoming* James Bond* film, Spectre.
The track is called Writing’s On The Wall, and we’re VERY excited about hearing it.
But we have to admit we’re a little hurt that Sam didn’t just come out and tell us about the track months ago when we were specifically asking if he was doing it.
Speaking to* The Sun* at last night’s GQ Men Of The Year Awards, Best Solo Artist winner Sam said: “You figured it out and then I had to lie through my teeth, which isn’t much fun. My lying is really good now, when you say ‘genuinely’ people believe it.”
The track is a collaboration between himself, writing partner Jimmy Napes and* 007* director Sam Mendes, so it had to work for all three.
“It’s his film and vision and there were certain sonics and lyrics he felt maybe weren’t working and needed to work in certain ways.”
Not to get ahead of ourselves… but Sam now has a shot at winning an Oscar! The bookies’ odds are 8/1!
“With Bond, if you go back through the songs not all of them won Oscars, even the most timeless ones.
“For me it’s about making the most timeless songs that will last for ever.
“I’ve given it a good f**king shot. I love the song.”
So when can we hear it, Sam?
