The Apprentice’s Scott Saunders quit the hit BBC show last night after being torn apart by criticism by Lord Alan Sugar - and said it was based on his "gut instinct".
As heat reported earlier this week, the 27-year-old candidate left the show "in turmoil" after his shock exit as the producers – along with Sugar – weren’t expecting him to fight back.
Dayyyyyyym...
Despite being on the winning team after winning the most commission from a property-selling task, Sugar told Scott he sounded like he "didn't know what [he] was doing", and minutes later, Scott decided to tell the boardroom that he wanted to leave.
"Well, it's your choice if you want to," Sugar told him. "You're doing my job for me... You've actually made my life a lot easier for me."
Scott then upped and walked out, later telling an interviewer: "I was slightly upset with my performance and some of the comments made at the time, but it didn't feel right to go ahead because I didn't want the investment from Lord Sugar. I don't think we wanted to work together and it was clear on both sides."
According to last week's Sun On Sunday, Scott got absolutely scorched by Alan and his underlings, Karren Brady and Claude Littner in footage that apparently wasn't aired.
A source told the newspaper: “Scott took a battering from Lord Sugar and his aides. He said they went for him like a pack of vultures.
“Lord Sugar was absolutely ruthless. He tore apart everything that Scott had done from start to finish and called him a waste of space.”
Ouch. Sounds pretty awful.
“He did everything he could to make him look totally inept, idiotic and useless as a businessman,” the insider went on.
“He even said that Scott’s performance had been the worst ever seen on the show.”
When Scott tried to defend himself, Alan, Karren and Claude “just carried on, hit after hit”, the source added.
