Spencer Matthews has quit I’m A Celebrity on his second day in the camp for ‘medical reasons’, it’s just been announced.
Viewers watched on last night’s show as Spencer completed a Bush Tucker Trial alongside new arrivals Vicky Pattison and Ferne McCann, looking happy and relaxed as he got thousands of cockroaches dumped on him.
But when the challenge was over, Ferne picked Vicky to come with her into the main camp, leaving Spencer to stay the night by himself in a separate area.
An ITV spokesperson has said the ex-Made In Chelsea star has already left the camp.
“Spencer Matthews has left the jungle. We're sorry to see him leave.”
A separate source told The Mirror: “He has left the jungle on medical grounds.
“He was a great booking and was shaping up to be a great character. We are sorry to see him go.”
It comes after Spenny said he really wanted to be a finalist, telling the newspaper:
“I’d like to be a finalist. I’d like to be there for the duration. That’s my main aim. The popularity contest as such isn’t why I’m here, but I’d like to see it through. I’d like to be one of the last people standing.”
His dramatic exit makes him one of the shortest-serving campmates in I’m A Celeb’s history, with Gemma Collins quitting the jungle last year after just three days because she couldn’t cope with the stress of the situation.
He’s only beaten by Malcolm McClaren, the former Sex Pistols manager, who didn't even make it into the jungle when he left, and Freddie Starr, who lasted a single day before getting an allergic reaction to something.
There’s been no suggestion that Spencer couldn’t handle the pressure of jungle life, but we’re expected to be given more details on tonight’s show.
Catch I’m A Celeb at 9pm on ITV.
