Rapper Stormzy has started a campaign to get his song Shut Up to the Christmas number one spot. His main competition is X Factor winner Louisa Johnson whose song, a cover of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young, is set for release tomorrow.
The *ITV *talent show winners have dominated the coveted spot since the show started back in 2005. But, in 2009, The X Factor’s reign was ended by Rage Against The Machine, whose track Killing In The Name Of got to number one after a huge social media campaign. So, can Stormzy do the same?
He certainly thinks so. The 22-year-old rapper from London has had #ShutUpForXmasNo1 trending on Twitter and the track, which was released in September, is now at 45 in the iTunes chart.
Ladbrokes have said Stormzy stands a 6/1 chance of cracking it – so we might just have a small wager on it. And maybe one on Louisa’s too, just in case.
