Here at heatworld, we're firm believers nobody should have to go without a footlong (oi, get your mind out of the gutter). So obviously we've been hoping Subway would up their vegan sarnie options for a while now. A Meatball Marinara's all well and good, but it's hardly gonna be a vegan's sub of choice.
So THANK THE SANDWICH GODS one of our fave lunch spots is finally offering a 'steak' substitute.
For those of you sick of settling for a plain old salad sandwich given the chain's limited vegan options, we have GOOD NEWS. Their new Vegan Delite sub contains 'steak'-that-isn't-steak and is set to be a favourite amongst our plant-based pals.
The bad news? Er, it's not available in the UK yet. Sorry.
Said sub is currently exclusive to a few Finnish branches and is made from 44% vegetables; red onion, red and green pepper, carrot, spinach, corn, white pepper, peas, green chilli and garlic. DELISH.
There's no word yet as to when the sandwich is set to hit our shores, but we might just have to book ourselves a flight to Finland tbh.
Remember McDonald's recently launched their vegan-friendly burger there, too? That's basically a soy-based patty in your standard bun complete with tomato, salad, pickles and a vegan McFeast sauce.
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS?
At least we've got vegan Baileys, which totally isn't just for Christmas and is completely acceptable when it comes to fulfilling our vegan quota. Ahem.
