So the one good thing about Taylor Swift removing all of her music from Spotify is that a feels like a special treat every time you hear even a few beats of one of her new tracks. Unless, of course you’ve cracked and bought her latest album 1989 on iTunes like a proper fan (props to you).
Still, for those of us still reliant on the benevolence of Youtube for our kicks, Taylor’s video for her new song Blank Space has premiered. HURRAH.
The vid starts on a high point, with a cameo performance by her infamous cat Olivia Benson as Taylor pets it on the bed in a palatial bedroom. The camera then zooms out to reveal that Olivia Benson has brought some animal friends to the parday: two sparkling white horses, naturally.
Taylor then luxuriates around the mansion with a hot guy who sadly exudes virtually no signs of a personality. Or maybe we’re just too captivated by Taylor to notice anyone else.
Watch out for some pretty dresses and fabulous interiors ideas – the first section of the video is essentially set in some kind of dreamlike Great Gatsby/Downton Abbey hybrid place.
However, Taylor then becomes enraged by jealousy over the attractive yet boring man and the track descends into what is essentially a musical version of Gone Girl. Prepare to watch her hitting things with golf clubs and doing some other things that look uncomfortably like domestic violence (setting the poor guy’s trousers on fire and brandishing a kitchen knife).
Anyway, what do you think of it? Have a watch below:
