We’re slightly bewildered by the deep ache of loss we’ve experienced since the most recent series of Downton Abbey finished on Sunday. Seriously, what are we going to do without our weekly booster jab of sadness-busting 1920s costume porn?
So if you’re anything like us and pining desperately for period drama, get excited for the new film Testament of Youth, whose trailer we’ve popped above for your viewing pleasure.
The movie is based on writer and pacifist Vera Brittain’s First World War memoir and stars Alicia Vikander and Kit Harington. Prepare for a heart-wrenching tale of young love and the futility of war.
If the trailer’s anything to go by, it’ll be quite a tear-jerker - we just had to sheepishly sweep away a tear or two here at Heat Towers - so get your tissues (or 1920s embroidered handkerchiefs) at the ready.
Testament of Youth is released in UK cinemas on 16 January 2015. Let us know what you think of it!
