When the stresses of day-to-day life are getting that bit too much and not even old episodes of Love Island on Netflix can cheer you up, it's probably time to treat yourself. We're sick of scrolling Instagram only to see Kim Kardashian's latest facial and Megan Barton-Hanson's beach snaps; we want us a bit of that life.

So, with that in mind, we thought we'd head to the beautiful Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel for a fancy little stay-cay.

Set in the heart of Newmarket, Suffolk, Bedford Lodge promises picturesque grounds, spa that'll leave you feeling zen as hell and a menu probably worthy of a Michelin star.

Let's take a tour, shall we?

The Hotel

This beautiful Georgian-built property is located in the heart of Newmarket in Suffolk. Originally built as a hunting lodge for the Sixth Duke of Bedford in the 18th century (ooh la la), the hotel merges old and new traditions that make it both luxurious but also charming.

Surrounded by rose gardens and training stables, and just a 15 second walk from the Bedford Lodge Spa, this hotel is the ideal spot to stay if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city for a tranquil weekend.

The Spa

The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel is perfect for a girly getaway, especially if you want to come away feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. The spa facilities include a large hydrotherapy pool with 5 water experiences that will relieve tired muscles (and where you can most definitely snap that perfect Instagram shot).

The spa also boasts a boujee sauna, steam room and thermal hammam table area. Upstairs in the spa mezzanine, you'll find relaxing balcony beds and loads of magazines to read (pick up a heat mag while you're there, yeah?). Oh, and did we mention the outdoor rooftop hot tub? Dreamy. 💆🏽

The trained therapists at the spa offer a wide variety of treatments including hot stone massages to relieve tension, ESPA facials for all skin types, manicures, pedicures, and holistic options including reflexology. Basically, you'll never want to leave.

The Food

Lunch is also available in the spa premises, where you can opt for a selection of healthy choices including soup, salads and healthy algae-infused smoothies. Or you can treat yourself to an afternoon tea spread complete with scones and prosecco. 😋

Breakfast and dinner at the award-winning Squires Restaurant offers a modern dining experience that you'll totally love. The restaurant host, Hector, keeps the restaurant running in check and to a brilliantly high standard. For dinner, we recommend picking the beef fillet steak or deliciously-juicy burger for dinner, but other popular choices include the scallops and black pudding starter and the banana macaron for dessert! Yum.

Things To Do

Obvs, we recommend spending a day at the glorious Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel, to unwind and indulge. If you fancy exploring the town of Newmarket, which is steeped in heritage and known for being the home of horse racing, then you can walk to the various racing yards and the famed Training Grounds, which are only a short distance from the hotel. 🐴

We'd also recommend heading to Britain’s smallest pub, ‘The Nutshell’ in the market town of Bury St Edmunds. Trust us: it'll look great on the 'gram.

Or if you just fancy chilling in your hotel room, you can run a relaxing bubble bath with the Molton Brown products you'll find in the bathroom, or whack a Sky Cinema film on the TV.
