If you were wondering what the top 10 biggest selling albums of 2014 were, then wonder no more, friends!

We’ve got the list of global music megastars who sold the most albums in 2014. And guess what… five out of the 10 are from the UK! Not bad, eh?

Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Pink Floyd and Sam Smith did us proud as part of the top ten. But no one could defeat the musical powerhouse that is Taylor Swift, who topped the chart with her album 1989, which has sold 6million copies.

Here’s the top 10 in full:

  1. Taylor Swift (USA) - 1989, 6.0m album sales

  2. One Direction (UK) - Four, 3.2m album sales

  3. Ed Sheeran (UK) – X, 4.4m album sales

  4. Coldplay (UK) - Ghost Stories, 3.7m album sales

  5. AC/DC (UK/Australia) - Rock Or Bust, 2.7m album sales

  6. Michael Jackson (USA) - Xscape, 1.7m album sales

  7. Pink Floyd (UK) - The Endless River, 2.5m album sales

  8. Sam Smith (UK) - In The Lonely Hour, 3.5m album sales

  9. Katy Perry (USA) - Prism, 1.2m album sales

  10. Beyoncé (USA) - Beyoncé, 1.4m album sales

The number of albums sold takes into account both physical and digital sales of the complete album and IFPI also factor in individual track sales and streams to determine an artist's position in the Top 10 Global Recording Artists 2014 list.
