Changes and updates in popular apps aren't always welcomed with open arms (just ask Snapchat), but WhatsApp's latest 'delete for everyone' update is right up there with one of the best things they've ever done... but it's bad news for iPhone users.

After tons of requests from users, WhatsApp FINALLY created the ability for users to delete messages, but up until now it was only for a mere seven minutes after it had been sent.

Well now, if new reports are true, bosses at WhatsApp have listened and they have plans to extend it, on Android devices only.

According to wabetainfo.com, Android beta users with the WhatsApp version number 2.18.69 will have the 'Delete for Everyone' feature extended from 420 seconds to 4096 seconds. That's a massive 68 MINUTES!

Although the tech website states the feature is only available on Android devices, it does state that WhatsApp are considering rolling out the amazing new feature to more devices in the near future.

In case you've sent a message and instantly regretted it, or simply just sent a message to the wrong person, follow the steps below to use the 'delete for everyone' feature.

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to the chat containing the message you wish to delete.
  1. Tap and hold the message. Optionally, tap more messages to delete multiple messages at once.
  1. Tap Delete at the top of the screen > Delete for everyone.

However, beware that for this to work both yourself and the person you are sending the message to must have the most up to date version of WhatsApp on their device.

You will receive a notification if the message has failed to be deleted.

Good luck! 🙈
