Unless you’ve fallen down a sinkhole and are yet to be rescued, then you won’t have missed the brilliance of Years & Years. Their new single, King, has been getting a right old hammering on the radio and is finally out this week, but who are electro-pop royalty Olly Alexander, 24, Emre Turkmen, 26, and Mikey Goldsworth, 26?

We sent them an email and got them to answer some very important questions:

If you were king for the day, what three laws would you pass?

No iPads at gigs. No crisps in the cinema. No self check-outs!

Who, in your opinion, is the greatest king in all of history?

The Lion King!

Have you ever met a member of the royal family? If not, who would you most like to meet?

Prince Harry. We can totally go partying together.

**Who’s your most famous fan? **

Katy Perry tweeted us once.... Does that count?

Apart from Samantha Mumba, what other turn of the century/early noughties pop stars are you fans of?

Aaliyah, Sean Paul, Cleopatra, TLC and Donell Jones.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever been sent?

[Radio 1’s] Alice Levine gave Emre a large pair of Y-Fronts.

Best thing?

Russian Dolls with our faces on them (large to small Olly-Mikey-Emre).

Who would be your ideal next celeb cameo in a video [Ben Wishaw did some dancing in the video for Real]?

Nicholas Cage!

What’s the last video you watched on YouTube?

A bat eating a banana... Check it out.

What’s your favourite flavour of crisp?

Sea Salt.

What’s the oddest instrument you can play?

Theremin [Wikipedia tells us that this is “an early electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist (performer).” So that’s that cleared up then]

What was your favourite year?

2001 (Dr. Dre!)

What’s your favourite item of clothing?

Tracksuit bottoms with poppers.

Who’s your favourite internet cat?

Gato Malo - Thug Life.

Who would you most like to cover one of your songs?

Beyoncé.

Who were you last starstruck by?

Taylor Swift (big fan!)
