1990s children’s TV – all of the reboots we’re obsessed with

Fresh Prince Of Bel Air

We’ve seen Sabrina The Teenage Witch revisited, and now with the announcement of a Lizzie McGuire reboot, my nostalgia hype is hitting the max.

Spice Girls’ “Girl Power”, snap bracelets, dungarees and flannel shirts tied around the hips are symbols of the 1990s for me, so I can’t tell you how excited (or should that be stoked?) the buzz around classic show reboots has got me.

Hey Arnold!

Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold! has been through the rumour mill a few times, especially after the 2017 TV movie Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie. Netflix have been associated with the project but are yet to confirm if a revival is on the cards. We're still crossing our fingers that old Football Head will hit our screen soon.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

As if the launch of Fresh Prince merch hasn't been a treat, we could soon be seeing a spin-off series with Will Smith behind the project. Time to break out the Carlton Dance and relive some of the best moments...

Lizzie McGuire

Okay, okay - this isn't TECHNICALLY from the 90s, but anyone born in the decade will have grown up with the show. So, how can the hype not be real for the Disney+ reboot? The streaming service hasn't hit the UK yet, but it is confirmed for March 2020. Better book that month off now, then.In the meantime, you can always rewatch The Lizzie McGuire Movie one more time...

RUGRATS

Who can forget Tommy, Chuckie, Lil & Phil (and Dil)? The Nickelodeon show already had four seasons, three movies and a spin-off, and in 2018 it was revealed another series was in the works. Until then, I'm just going to sit munching on my Reptar Bar and rewatch episodes on Amazon Prime.

Saved by The Bell

The OG show ended in '93, and while you might've only just got the theme tune out of your head, there never isn't a good time to kick it in The Max with milkshakes. Break out those leg warmers, because its reboot is planned for release in 2020. Until then, why not catch Zack Morris Is Trash on Amazon Prime and watch all the flaws in Zack Morris be laid bare. It's brutal and I love it.

Gremlins

Seems that someone got the Mogwais wet again as we're getting Gremlins: The Secrets of the Mogwai, a 10-episode animated prequel to the 1984 Gremlins movie. Sadly, we're not sure when we'll be getting it as we have no release date... yet. The original is currently showing in cinemas though, so we'll enjoy that for now.

Animaniacs

An update to this wacky 1990's animation is set for release in the second half of 2020, and is sure to bring some flashbacks to the original series. Given it's packed with lots of naughty adult humour, a re-watch will certainly highlight some laughs that you might've missed the first-time round.
