Horror film IT is out now and saw the return of one of the creepiest clowns return to our screens. Pennywise is the white faced, red haired villain terrorising kids but (lucky for him) the guy playing him, Bill Skarsgård, looks nothing like the creepy clown.

The Swedish actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about his role as creepy clown Pennywise in the remake of horror film Stephen King's IT.

The actor revealed slobbering wasn't originally part of the plan for playing Pennywise.

He explained: "I was just sitting there going through the scenes in different voices – and I was drooling so much that there was this pile of drool on the carpet."

Skarsgård has some very big clown shoes to fill as he takes over the role from Tim Curry, who played Pennywise in the 1990 television two-parter of IT and single-handedly changed the perception of clowns from children’s entertainers to scary murderers.

You may not know this but Bill comes from a very famous family. His brother Alexander Skarsgård starred in True Blood and Big Little Lies and his other brother Gustaf Skarsgård is known for Vikings. Bill's dad, Stellan Skarsgård, has starred in Good Will Hunting, Thor and the Avengers movies.
