Alicia Douvall hits back at bullies: ‘I don’t have basics like the alphabet but that doesn’t mean I’m thick’

Before she was voted out, the former model revealed that she’d only just learnt the alphabet and explained that she was still working on her shapes, proudly telling the other housemates that she knew what an octagon was.

Her lack of basic knowledge has made Alicia, 36, a target for bullies but says despite this she refuses to be labelled as thick.

“I was really angry about being labelled the thick one,” Alicia told the Sun.

“Because I’m dyslexic I left school at 14 without learning to read or write, so I don’t have any of the basics other people have, like the alphabet. But that doesn’t mean I’m thick. And it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t home school my child. I was worried about it at first, but then I realised that you can learn with your child. You don’t have to know everything.”

Alicia says she’s managed to successfully teach her youngest daughter Papaya all the basics and explained that although they’re learning together, it won’t be long until Papaya is brighter than she is.

She added: “If you don’t know about something, you can Google it. So far we’ve learnt shapes, the alphabet and the sounds of letters – like what sound a C makes – I didn’t know that before.

“Until recently I didn’t know where Russia or Japan was on a map, the only place I could point out was France. But I bought Papaya a globe and we’ve been learning together.

“She’s too young to overtake me yet, but by the time she’s five she probably will have done. She’s a lot sharper than I am.”

Alicia, who’s spent over £1,000,000 on cosmetic surgery, also revealed that inside the house she had loads of intelligent debates bu claims they were cut out.

“We had a little general knowledge contest in the house and I held my own,” she explained. “I knew that Germany won the World Cup, and that Nick Clegg is the vice-president.

“I watch Question Time as much as the rest of them. I have intelligence in different ways.”
