Produces have agreed that Ant McPartlin will appearing on this weekend's Saturday Night Takeaway show in a drama sketch alongside Declan Donnelly.

The decision has been made to continue to air the pre-recorded whodunnit segment Saturday Knight Takeaway featuring both Ant and Dec, as well as Emilia Fox, Joanna Lumley and David Walliams. “There’s been some discussion about whether the whole of the series should be ditched because Ant features heavily," show sources told The Sun.

“But after a lot of soul searching it was decided that the final two episodes should run because viewers have loved the series and want to find out the conclusion in the final two episodes."

However, bosses are still in 'crisis talks' as to how to address the situation and move forward with Ant's role on the live show after his drink driving shame and return to rehab.

Taking to Twitter, Dec released a statement revealing he will continue to host Saturday Night Takeaway without Ant.

"Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead," he wrote.

"We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that."

It's also been reported that James Corden could step in to replace Ant for the live finale in America.

The Late Late Show presenter's apparently in talks with ITV bosses and could join Dec at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida in time for the broadcast on April 8th.

Speaking to the Daily Star, a source said: "Dec has got a big job on his hands fronting a live show from the States all on his own.

"Although he will have fellow show stars Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern there to assist, the producers want to add some sparkle with some big Tinseltown names. We're confident everyone will jump on board as it's such a popular family show."
