Anton Du Beke has hit out at claims Strictly Come Dancing is fixed ahead of tonight’s final.
The BBC show was hit with controversy earlier this year when Anton's fellow professional dancer Ola Jordan said she would not be returning next series, suggesting judges “over and under-mark” the competing stars.
But Anton, who will dance with broadcaster Katie Derham on tonight’s final, insists such claims are laughable and that nobody has time to think about things in such a convoluted way.
He told the Radio Times: “Any mention of fixing sort of makes me laugh really because that would suggest that there’s quite a lot of organisation going on to fix something... It’s too complex a thing to even get involved in.
“It’s complete nonsense. Also they have a building next to the BBC called Compliance which is an ever so slightly larger building with its own postcode who oversee everything. It’s ludicrous in its concept.”
Aside from Ola’s comments, former contestant Jamelia said fellow contender Peter Andre didn’t get a standing ovation that was seen on screen, and that it was filmed just for the cameras.
She said on Loose Women after her elimination: “The honest thing is, he didn’t.
“But on the show he did. I love Peter and he has tried so hard and he is a brilliant dancer, maybe the jive wasn’t for him.”
She added: “I do think there has been a huge backlash, a lot of people on Twitter raving about him, saying he should go home.
“But Pete is not behind the decision making process and I don’t think he should bear the brunt of any of this.”
