Earlier this year Aston Merrygold starred on The Masked Singer and came third place but he's now opened up about keeping it a secret from everyone and it turns out it wasn't as hard as you'd think.

Opening up to heatworld while promoting Virgin Atlantic's new initiative Airplause, the JLS star admitted keeping it a secret was, "Very easy to be honest.

"Because we recorded it over the back end of last year. We were in lockdown anyway, so I didn’t see anyone."

"And as soon as it was done, I just forgot about it and put it in the back of my mind.

"Then when it was on, I just ignored everyone who spoke about it," he admitted.

Obsessed.

Aston then went into more detail about avoiding spilling the tea and confessed, "I would just ignore text messages.

"If they messaged and said, ‘I’ve just seen you, I’m sure it’s you’, they’d just get left on read.

"That’s just how it goes," he added.

And it turns out The Masked Singer is just as secretive backstage as it is on TV.

"The only people that knew were my manager and Sarah [his fiancée]. Obviously she was at home with kids and we were in lockdown, I was never going to get away with going out for 12 hours.

"It’s such a big secret and there’s only a handful of people, within the show itself that know."

Since then, we've seen him appear in Dancing On Ice and in several West End musicals - but, when he was dismissed from his record label in November 2007, he fell off the radar a little bit. "I’d hate for my grandparents to find out the date from you guys," he admitted.

Fair play, tbh.
