Our favourite ever bakers are back for a GBBO Christmas special

Over the years very little has given as us much pure and utter joy as watching a bunch of amateur bakers stress out over proving time and sponge-to-filling-ration on The Great British Bake Off.

Even after the contro move to Channel 4 and the loss of Mel Giedroyc, Sue Perkins and Mary Berry, Bake Off holds a special place in our hearts and we’ve been eagerly anticipating the reveal of the Christmas special line-up.

And it definitely does not disappoint. As well as bakers from older series dating back to 2001, four of our fave ever contestants from the last series on BBC1 will also return.

This year there will be two festive specials on Channel 4, which will see Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood judge eight former Bake Off stars. Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will host the show just the like the usual series, but the bakers will be given a series of yuletide tasks to complete.

Selasi Gbormittah

Selasi won over the nation with his ridiculously cool approach to baking.

Beca, Paul, Selasi and Val will take part in the first Christmas episode, set to air sometime in late December, while Rob, Sandy, Benjamina and Rav will be back in the tent for episode two.
