GBBO finalist Sophie Faldo is reportedly being investigated for benefit fraud after allegedly claiming a single person’s allowance, despite living with her boyfriend.

It’s thought that an investigator discovered Sophie was actually living with chef David Slattery after reading about her current living situation in her biography on the Bake Off’s website.

Sophie’s biography on the GBBO website reads: “Sophie grew up in Suffolk and now lives in Surrey with her boyfriend, David and cat Loki.”

“She is being investigated for benefit fraud,” a source told The Sun. “She has been saying her partner doesn’t live with her – but he does. They have been caught out.”

When filming for the show began, Sophie apparently lived in a house-share and revealed she’d tested out her bakes on her housemates.

She later revealed in an interview she’d moved house.

“I have recently moved and the new kitchen is small but modern,” she explained, adding that she was able to practice her bakes as she didn’t “have a full-time job at the time”.

Sophie – who’s training to become a stuntwoman – is in Tuesday’s Bake Off final, along with Steven Carter-Bailey and Kate Lyon.
