Beauty and the Beast

If you've seen the live action remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast (if you haven't WHO ARE YOU?) you'll know it's absolutely brilliant. Insanely, ridiculously, properly brilliant.

But you'll also know it creates one major plot hole the 1991 original didn't have; WHY THE HELL DID THE BEAST AND HIS SERVANTS NEVER AGE? Did they just have a really great Q10-based skincare routine or had someone, er, forgotten to address it?

Take Chip, for instance. He's still a ruddy child when the enchatress's curse is lifted at the end of the film.

Well now a Reddit user by the name of Hainted's got a theory; and it kinda makes sense.

Hainted reckons: ""The village of Villaneuve is caught in the Enchantress' curse as well. In other words, the enchantress didn't just erase memories of the prince and his castle; she also "locked the village in a time loop."

So, basically, even the villagers are under the enchantress's spell. And why could this be the case? Think about it - the villagers are all so arsey with Belle as it'd give more incentive to reverse the curse. Oh, and in case you're confused the theory suggests Belle and her father Maurice are exampt from the curse 'cause they moved to town after the spell was cast.

That could be why everyone looks at 'em so weirdly. They age normally.

Innnteresting.
