Ah, Below Deck, the hit Netflix show that kept us all gripped during 2020’s worldwide lockdown. It provided an escape into the world of luxury sailing with the show focusing on the lives of crew members and captains and how they deal with demanding guests and navigate life at sea.
The series produced some of our fave telly moments in recent years, remember Chef Kevin Dobson making a penis cake for a demanding guest for his bachelorette party? Or the moment international photographer Johnny Eyelash and his entourage were found with drugs and forced to return to port? DRAMA.
However, one of the show’s stand out stars has to be master chef Ben Robinson, who famously kept his kitchen ship shape.
We take a deep dive on Ben, who has a pretty impressive past…
Who is Ben Robinson Below Deck?
Ben is best known for being a chef, with over 15 years of experience working in high end restaurants and the largest sailing yacht in the world. He worked under Italian master chefs in Florence as well as Heston Blumenthal’s 3-Michelin Star restaurant The Fat Duck.
He definitely doesn’t mess around when it comes to food but is probably best known for starring as the spiky haired head chef on US series Below Deck and spin-off show Below Deck Mediterranean, the show that gave a glimpse into the working lives of chef Ben Robinson and eight crew members. He appeared on six seasons on the show before he decided to leave to focus on his successful catering business.
Reflecting on his time on the show on Lorraine, he said that he has no regrets about appearing on the show, “You can't live in regret, luckily I haven't - I've been able to progress and I've had a good platform.”
How old is Ben Robinson Below Deck?
He was born on 30 December 1980, so that makes him 41 years old.
Where is Ben Robinson Below Deck from?
Despite travelling the world and starring on a USA telly series, Ben is actually British and proud of his roots. He was born in Oxford and attending boarding school there before moving to the U.S. with his parents. He currently is based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (and the sea, of course).
Who is Ben Robinson’s dad?
Ben comes from a pretty talented family as his dad is writer Patrick Robinson, who writes stories about the navy and non-fiction books about thoroughbred horses.
He had a pretty posh upbringing and previously revealed that he used to hang out with the royals. “I used to play sports with Prince William and Harry. It was just ultra privilege,” he said.

We'll see how long that lasts.

In fairness we would definitely call Kim Kardashian an A-Lister as well but technically she is also a reality star. Unfortunately, after a six year marriage and four ADORABLE kids, the two decided to call it quits January 2021.
