Coronation Street viewers were left crying into their supper last night (Wednesday 20th March) as character Rana Habeeb, played by actress Bhavna Limbachia, was tragically killed after the roof collapsed at Underworld.

Rana, who was due to marry her fiancée Kate Connor on the hit soap, fell victim to the dramatic roof collapse after she sneaked back into the factory to pick up her bag on route to the wedding.

After being found in the wreckage by emergency services, Rana and Kate exchanged wedding vows, before fans were left heartbroken as Rana sadly died.

And now, following the dramatic scenes, actress Bhavna has appeared on today's episode of This Morning, where she revealed the reason why she wanted to leave Coronation Street, three years after making her debut.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Bhavna said, “It was [my decision to leave]. When I decided to leave the show, I wanted to have a meeting with the producers...I wanted to go into the meeting with a solution as to how she would leave the show. It’s hands-down the nicest place I have ever worked, I was getting comfortable and I would stay forever. This was the only time, before I have more responsibilities, to take a few risks.

"I was trying to come up with reasons as to why Rana would leave Kate. The truth is she would never leave Kate...their love is so pure. The only way they could be apart is if the decision was taken out of their hands.”

The actress also spoke about the 'whodunnit' storyline which is set to follow in the coming weeks. She teased, “A lot of people will be spiraling down a very dark hole. Carla will be reeling with guilt. There are so many [suspects]...it could be Robert...Gary...Nick...it’s going to be interesting. It’s going to escalate quite a lot.”
