If you grew up in the 90s and 00s, chances are you fantasised about slaying a vampire or two during your early school years. And not just slaying vampires – slaying vampires while sporting a downright supernatural bouncy blow dry that would never, EVER flatten. The cultural phenomenon that was Buffy the Vampire Slayer did this to us.

Buffy Summers kicked butt for so many of us who - for whatever reason - couldn't, and rightfully so, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has transcended to utter MOTHER status in the eye of the gays, theys and girlies in 2025.

But while Buffy slayed (or is it slew?*) solo, the Scooby gang ALWAYS had her back and let's be honest, were utter friendship goals.

It's been 22 year long years since the Scooby gang kicked The First's ass and the show turned to dust, but a la Buffy coming back from the dead, SMG has confirmed that a reboot is on the way and SHE IS INVOLVED. Slay. As such, we thought now is the perfect time to consult our books and do some research to see what the Scooby Gang are up to in 2025. After all, who knows which former Sunnydale residents will show up in SMG's reboot...

Actually, we can take a wild stake at that one, tbh 👀👀

*Both are correct, babs.

Sarah Michelle Gellar - Buffy Summers

Sarah Michelle Gellar started slaying as Buffy Summers at just 18 years old – to clarify, she's been slaying her entire life, though. The word is MOTHER. The actress recently turned 48 years old and is currently working on much-anticipated Buffy reboot (where she is expected to reprise her role as Buffy Summers) and is currently starring in Dexter: Original Sin. She is married to 90s heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. and the couple have two children together - Charlotte Grace and Rocky James.

Alyson Hannigan - Willow Rosenberg

Alyson bewitched us all as Buffy's spell-casting bestie, Willow Rosenberg. Shortly after Buffy ended she was cast as Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother. Since then, she has gone on to star in various movies and TV shows, even going on to take part in Dancing With the Stars in 2023. She is married to Angel actor Alexis Denisof (who she met on the set of Buffy) and the couple have two children together.

Nicholas Brendon - Xander Harris

Xander was somewhat of a controversial character on the show – while he was considered as 'the heart of the show' by many his, erm, VERY 90s, sometimes chauvinistic ways have seen his character age poorly. While Nicholas Brendan kept up his telly work for many years after Buffy, starring on Criminal Minds as A/V tech Kevin Lynch, IRL, Nicholas' star has been plummeting since. He has been arrested multiple times for various offences and has been open about his addiction struggles over the last few years.

Anthony Head - Rupert Giles

Buffy's watcher, the loveable and daddy AF Giles was played by national treasure Anthony Head. Since Buffy, Anthony has been living in Bath with his wife Sarah Fisher. They have two daughters, Emily and Daisy, both of whom are actresses. Anthony has popped up in TV shows like Ted Lasso, Motherland and Bridgerton over the last couple of decades. Oh, and he reprised his role as Giles for the the Audible exclusive audio series Slayers: A Buffyverse Story

David Boreanaz - Angel

Swoon. David Boreanaz played the love of Buffy's life, Angel, the vampire with a soul (long before Twilight FYI). After his three years on Buffy, he went on to bag his own spin-off show, Angel, which ran for five years. He then starred in Bones catapulting him in to new levels of telly fame. More recently, he starred in military drama series SEAL Team (2017–2024). Our fave thing about David, however, is that him and SMG are still besties after all these years - here's hoping they've been having some long chats about the reboot together.

Charisma Carpenter - Cordelia Chase

Charisma Carpenter played the timelessly iconic Cordelia Chase - the Sunnydale bad girl we loved to hate, and arguably slayed harder than Buffy. Like many of her co-stars she spent the next few years attending various conventions and popping up in various TV shows - including Charmed and Supernatural.

Seth Green - Daniel 'Oz' Osbourne

Seth Green played cooler and than cool werewolf and Willow's boyfriend, Oz in Buffy. Seth's star catapulted into the stratosphere thanks to his role in the Austin Powers movies. He has been voicing Chris Griffin in Family Guy since 1999 and continues to star in major films and TV shows.

Emma Caulfield - Anya Jenkins

Fan favourite Anya Jenkins - the ex-1,000-year-old vengeance demon - was played by Emma Caulfield. These days, she has found fame with a new generation of telly fans, playing Dottie in WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

James Marsters - Spike

More swoon. Buffy bad boy Spike was perfectly portrayed by James Marsters. He continues to work as an actor, a musician, a singer, a comic book writer, and an audiobook narrator.

Michelle Trachtenberg - Dawn Summers

Buffy's surprise little sister Dawn Summers was played by child star Michelle Trachtenberg. She went on to play the wildly iconic Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl. Sadly, Michelle passed away in her Manhattan apartment in February 2025.

Bianca Lawson - Kendra Young

While she might not have lasted long in the Buffyverse, Vampire Slayer Kendra left a lasting impression on fans and the actress who played her has gone on to do some slay-worthy things, including starring in shows like Queen Sugar, Teen Wolf, 2 Broke Girls and Pretty Little Liars. Oh, and her stepsister is Beyoncé - no biggie.

Eliza Dushku - Faith Lehane

Good slayer gone bad Faith was a powerful protagonist-antagonist in the Buffyverse, but the woman who played her, Eliza Dushku is downright unstoppable. She went on to land her own TV shows, Doll House and Try Calling. These days she's best known for her activism work and according to Boston Magazine is a 'certified therapist, primarily focusing on psychedelic therapy for trauma patients'.

Amber Benson - Tara MaClay

Amber Benson joined the show for series 4 as Willow's coy and quirky girlfriend, Tara. The relationship made television history as one of the first lesbian relationships to be displayed on primetime television in America. In 2003, Amber wrote, directed, and provided her voice to the popular Slayers: A Buffyverse Story Audible series. She continues to work as an actress, writer, director, and producer.
