UPDATE: The X Factor's Katie Waissel is the latest star rumoured to be heading into the Big Brother house when it starts on Tuesday.

This year's civilian series will feature two houses, one with ordinary housemates and another with another set of contestants who will compete to take the places of the original housemates in the main house.

The original housemates have no idea people will be living alongside them in another house, and speculation is mounting some of those people may even be celebrities.

Katie became known for her quirky personality on the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010 and producers are said to be hoping she'll make a great cast member.

"Katie will make for compelling viewing because she is such a character. She is bound to divide opinion just like she did on The X Factor," a source told the Daily Star.

The civilian series of Big Brother is almost upon us with just a few days to go before the start of the new season.

And show bosses have unveiled a nasty twist is in store for the housemates that they will be completely unaware of.

The new contestants will happily skip into the house on Tuesday 9 June but little do they know that there will be ANOTHER house next door.

In the other property, a group of people called The Others will be living, and they will attempt to win the housemates’ places in the main building in a bid to be in with a chance of claiming the £100,000 prize.

We do know that some of The Others will have connections to the housemates but we don’t know who they are.

And some Big Bro fans are speculating some of The Others will actually be celebrities as Channel 5 bosses attempt to boost ratings with a celebrity/civilian mash-up.

Last year’s civilian series saw a host of former housemates and famous faces appear with the likes of Big Brother’s Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark, and former contestants Nikki Grahame, Brian Belo, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, as well as former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jasmine Lennard entering.

And speculation is mounting producers may sign up a number of stars to take part this summer.

A number of housemates are rumoured to be taking part in Celebrity Big Brother this summer, with Tulisa Contostavlos apparently being offered £500,000 for the upcoming series, but some could appear earlier, in the civilian series.

Stars apparently being targeted this year are Gogglebox’s Chris Steed and Stephen Webb, The X Factor’s Lauren Murray and former Geordie Shore star Sophie Kasaei among others.

Sophie recently told heatworld she’d love to take part in the reality series, saying: “I’d be happy to do any other reality show.

Big Brother? 100 per cent. Big Brother’s just like Geordie Shore, you get filmed in Geordie Shore 24/7, for like six weeks, [and] you only get to go out obviously on a night out, so yeah, Big Brother definitely. Watch this space!”

Big Brother starts on Tuesday 9 June at 9pm on Channel 5.
