*Celebrity Big Brother’*s Alexander O’Neal has already been on the receiving end of offensive comments about his race during his time in the house – but now he’s being embroiled in another race row because of remarks he reportedly made before joining the reality show.
The Never Knew Love Like This singer reportedly told The Sun that he wouldn’t want to be inside the house with people of Arabic origin because he ‘dislikes’ them.
“I try not to hate anybody but [Arabs] are probably my most disliked and most distrustful person in the whole world,” he allegedly told the newspaper.
“My take on it is this: if you hate me or don't like me one time, it's OK because I don't like you ten times. And now you come back to get through that, so I was so hoping I didn't have to deal with Arabs in the Big Brother house.”
Wow. In the same interview, Alexander also claimed that he hates racism “more than anything” – but then went on to say he “never approved of [Arabic people] running our stores”.
Fellow CBB housemate Nadia Sawalha’s father is Arabic and she’s often spoken with pride of her Jordanian background, saying that’s where she acquired her cooking skills.
Alexander’s comments came ahead of his conversation with Ken Morley, who repeatedly referred to him as a “n***o”, despite Alexander asking him to stop.
Ken was eventually removed from the house earlier this week for his use of “unacceptable language”.
heatworld has reached out to Alexander’s agent for comment.
