With safe sex a hot topic since revealing his HIV status last year, Hollywood star Charlie Sheen has admitted that he's found it hard to enjoy a sex life since being diagnosed as HIV positive.

He said in a press conference today: "Right now I couldn't get laid in a woman's prison with a handful of condoms. It doesn't give you an opening line – 'Hey, I've got HIV, busy later?'"

Though promoting his partnership with condom brand Lelo Hex, Charlie admitted that he's focusing on his family as he enters this new period of his life.

"I'm not dating. I'm spending a lot of time with my family and my children. I'm a chauffeur, I'm an Uber driver. I take them to school and I'm always on time. These days I like to think I'm leaving every situation I encounter better than I found it."

But he's not going to dodge the subject of safe sex when his young children grow up (Charlie is dad to daughters Sam, 12, and Lola, 11, from his marriage to Denise Richards as well as twin sons Bob and Max, seven, from his marriage to Brooke Mueller).

He said: "I think we all should be prepared for that but I don't want to be having that conversation with any of the young ones too soon. I'm a little old fashioned about that, believe it or not."

But does formidable Charlie have any life regrets?

He admitted: "Professionally, I should have finished Two And Half Men a little better, a lot better. Perhaps if Lelo Hex had been around in one or two of those moments my story would be different.

"What felt like regrets a few months ago has transformed into an opportunity to be an ambassador of responsible health. After speaking out about it (HIV) I wished that I'd done it sooner."
