Coronation Street fans have been left scratching their heads over the recent rumours that Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald's daughter, Amy, would be the subject of an upcoming teenage pregnancy storyline.
The 14-year-old character, played by 16-year-old Elle Mulvaney, was reportedly going to be falling pregnant in a storyline set to air next year - and show boss Iain MacLeod has now CONFIRMED that it will be happening.
Speaking at a Coronation Street press event, Iain revealed that the storyline would be "exploring a mix of emotional and humorous moments", adding that it will have a huge impact on Steve and Tracy, too.
Iain explained, "The story becomes more than being just about a teenage pregnancy. It becomes about family and Steve and Tracy's relationship – it forces them to instantly grow up and be parents for the first time in history.
"It’s really good – it gives a leading role to Elle Mulvaney, who deserves the chance to step up and do something a bit more grown up. I’m very much looking forward to that."

He went on to say, "It’s also really funny. Steve and Tracy dealing with a teenage pregnancy is not like a normal couple dealing with a teen pregnancy! There are scenes reminiscent of Peter Griffin in Family Guy – Steve goes fully postal at certain times.
"It's very funny, classic Steve with that Corrie heart. It's heartbreaking but ridiculous at the same time."
