Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has teased a little bit about what we can expect from her character Bethany Platt's exit storyline. The 23-year-old, who has been on the show since 2015, announced that she would be leaving the soap in May this year, and her exit scenes will be airing next year.
Announcing her decision to leave, Lucy told Digital Spy, "I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.
"I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday. I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly."
And last night at the TV Choice Awards, Lucy teased a little of what we can expect about Bethany's exit storyline. Whilst she didn't of course divulge the whole plot, she did hint that there could be more to her and Daniel Osbourne's recent frisson.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she said, "There’s quite a lot happening over Christmas. There’s a big episode on Christmas Day. It’s a secret though I imagine, I can’t tell you about that.
"I don’t know what else happens to Bethany to be honest, I’m going to a meeting next week so I’ll be able to tell you then. She’s not going to have happier moments. Basically she starts to fall for Daniel and obviously Daniel has a wife who is dying of cancer so that’s never going to end well."
This comes after viewers saw something spark between Bethany and Daniel, played by Rob Mallard, in last Friday's episode (6th Sept).
