Dancing On Ice confirm professional skaters for 2019 series

The new series will return in January!

We already know that the likes of Gemma Collins, Brian McFadden, Wes Nelson, James Jordan and Jane Danson will be taking part in the brand new series of Dancing On Ice when it returns in January 2019, and now, the professional skaters have also been revealed.

The new series will see the return of some familiar faces, with the likes of Matt Evers, Sylvain Longchambon, Brianne Delcourt and Mark Hanretty all returning! Also returning, after their debut series last year, Alexandra Murphy, Brandee Malto and Hamish Gaman.

Ballroom dancer James Jordan was the third celebrity to be announced. Speaking about the show he said, "I can dance but I'm a lot older than I used to be. People are going to probably say I've got an unfair advantage but when I got on the ice I actually shocked myself how bad I was. I want to be able to impress Torvill and Dean more than anyone else, but I'm a lot worse than I thought I'd be."

Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden was the fourth celebrity to be announced. When asked about his involvement he said, "I'm very excited. I've already been practising out the back garden on my rollerblades and my mum says I'm a one man Torvill and Dean."

Wes Nelson

Love Island's Wes Nelson will be joining the line-up for Dancing On Ice 2019. Speaking about the show Wes said, "Gemma Collins is going to wipe the floor with me, I'm super intimidated. I've been looking at the line up thinking 'oh my gosh!' Of course you'll be seeing my hips on the ice and the hips don't lie!"

In the coming weeks, each professional dancer will be partnered with a celebrity, with them getting into training ahead of the launch show in January.

Despite acting as mentors for the first nine series, Olympic legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean appeared on the judging panel last year, alongside Jason Gardiner and Diversity founder Ashley Banjo.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the judging panel is expected to remain the same for the 2019 series, which is due to begin in January 2019.
