David Beckham may be one of the best footballers in the history of English football, but he's also got a penchant being on-screen. Of course, he's quite often on TV to speak on sporting occasions, but he's no stranger to a cameo - after all, 2002 film Bend It Like Beckham was literally about him (although he never actually filmed any scenes for it.)

More recently, he's pulled some strings with his film director pal Guy Ritchie and had cameos in both his films The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - and let's not forget his hilarious promo clip for Deadpool 2 last year.

So when photos emerged of Becks on the Stockport set of the hugely popular TV show Peaky Blinders, which is set to return later this year, fans went crazy at the prospect of David Beckham starring in an episode of the upcoming series.

The official Instagram account for the show couldn't resist a quick snap with the sporting legend, sharing a photo of David with show creator Steven Knight and the caption, 'Creator Steven Knight shows @DavidBeckham around the #PeakyBlinders set.'

Another popular Netflix series that we can look forward to next year is Stranger Things 3. Not a huge amount is known about the plot for the upcoming series, however the Duffer Brothers confirmed it would be set in now 1985, now reconfirmed in the teaser trailer. Stranger Things Season 3 returns to Netflix in the summer 2019, in the meantime you can watch Seasons 1 and 2 of the hit show on Netflix.

Of course, fans of both Becks and Peaky Blinders went mad for the snap, and couldn't help but be drawn into the idea of a Beckham cameo in the show. Many took to the comments section on Instagram to express their disbelief, with one writing, 'Is this for season 5?' and another added, 'Put him in an episode!'

David himself also posted the photo to his Instagram Story, as well as another which saw him watching some filming going on with the caption, 'Big thanks to creator Steven Knight and the crew for looking after me. Excited for season 5.'

However, David's reps have sadly denied any whiff of a cameo rumour, telling the Manchester Evening News that he was only on the set for a tour. Darn.
