To mark the end of the show, Ricky – or should we say Derek – recorded this exclusive message for you guys, which includes a sneaky peak at the Christmas special which is set to air on 22 December at 10pm.

Our favourite bit is when Derek tackles a merry sailor and ends up having a bit of a brawl with him. It’s almost as good as the episode when he went on a date and learnt to a ride a bike.

Ricky created the incredible comedy – where he plays the slightly odd, but lovable Derek Noakes – which centred around a care home and even got a Emmy nomination for the show, which started last year.

But last month Ricky revealed the second series of the Channel 4 show would be the last, saying he thought it best to walk away on a high.

“I did toy with a third series, particularly after the Emmy nod, but I decided to stick to my usual formula of two series and a special. It's a bittersweet experience as always,” Ricky explained

“I'm sorry to end it but I know that leaving something you love and starting something else is always the best thing to do creatively.”

We’ll be buying the box set with our Christmas money.
