Doctor Foster was hands down THE TV show of 2017, and we think we’re still recovering from the stress brought on by the second season finale.
At the end of said finale, the BBC seemingly put an end to any hope there would be a third season after posting: "Gone... but never ever forgotten. Thank you for joining us for #DoctorFoster." On Twitter.
This made us VERY SAD because we really wanted to find out just what happened to poor old Tom who ran away from his parents at the end of the show (we’d have done the same, tbh, they were awful).
Cast and show producers have since then denied any plans for a third series, but we may have finally got some hope - because a BBC source has said they may now have new plans after the show’s big win at the NTAs.
Suranne Jones won best drama performance for her role as Doctor Foster, and the show also got the gong for best drama show.
The insider told The Sun: “After its ratings success last year commissioners were always keen for it to come back and although its early days they have given it the green light.
“Suranne is extremely busy with other projects at the moment but bosses are trying to pin her down for some potential filming dates.
“It’s looking like it would film next year at the earliest.”

This comes after Suranne told Digital Spy at the same awards: "Because if I say I'm not doing it, then I rule that out, so I'm not saying no. But we're busy.
"I'm filming until December 2018, so I'm not even free until 2019 and the team are doing their new show, Mike Barlett's writing two series, so we've not talked about it, because we're still basking in number two. So who knows?
