Downton Abbey fans were absolutely overjoyed last year when rumours began swirling about a potential film to carry on the story of the families who lived in the great house - and even more overjoyed when it was confirmed to be happening!

Now that we've seen the official trailer, we know that the film is a direct continuation of the TV series, which aired on ITV between 2010 and 2015. Whilst the series finished in 1926, the film will pick up in 1927 - with a visit from the Royal Family to Downton.

King George V and Queen Mary will apparently be taking a trip to visit the family, with Simon Jones and Geraldine James taking on the Royal roles. Ahead of the film's release on 13th September 2019, here are the film's official posters.

Along with the original cast members who are returning to the series, there are also a few new famous - although most of them will be pretty familiar! Legendary actress Imelda Staunton will be joining the cast as Lady Bagshaw, and Four Weddings And A Funeral's David Haig will star as The Royal Butler.

Tuppence Middleton will also join as a character called Lucy, and Kate Phillips will play Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood. Lily James will not be returning as Lady Rose MacClare and neither will Ed Speleers as footman James Kent.

We seriously can't wait for this!
