Emmerdale actor Thomas Atkinson might be best known as the evil murderer Lachlan White, but it turns out that he's actually a multi-talented guy. The 19-year-old, who has starred as Lachlan on the soap since 2014, revealed in an interview on Good Morning Britain earlier today (9th August) that he actually has a musical past.

Thomas, who has also starred on the stage in the London production of 'Matilda', admitted after some prodding by presenter Ben Shepherd that he once performed on-stage in the final of Britain's Got Talent in 2014.

After joking that he was nervous on the show as he "hadn't done a lot of live TV before", he went on to reveal that he'd been a backing singer for 2014 finalists Bars and Melody.

He said, "I was a backing singer on Britain's Got Talent once, when I was younger. Yeah, I was, in the final. It was weird. I did a little sway."

Of course, the actor refused to divulge what will happen in his character's current storyline. Lachlan White currently has his aunt Rebecca held hostage after she vowed to reveal to everyone what he'd done - murdering his family and best friend - but fans are convinced that she'll overpower him, and he'll be the one that ends up dead.

This week has seen Rebecca, played by Emily Head, chained up in an unknown location, desperately trying to get free of the chains. But when Lachlan hears that kids are searching in the woods, he dashes off in the hope that he'll find her before they do.

Thomas said to the GMB team of his character, "He's going to get a lot darker, which some of the audience might not like, but for me it's fun. It's going to be quite interesting. It's a bit weird but yeah I think I would [like Lachlan to kill again].

"For me as an actor it's interesting to do, so how can I not want that?"

Emmerdale continues Friday 10th August at 7pm on ITV.
